Over the past 20 years, I have taught Italian to students of all ages and backgrounds. I have a Bachelor's degree in Italian and a secondary teaching credential from San Francisco State University. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked with students from the age of eight to eighteen. Each age group provided its own set of challenges and opportunities to strengthen my experience as a tutor. I worked with children in small groups or one-on-one, based on the child's learning style. I encouraged the children to set their academic goals high and use the support from their peers to help them achieve their goals. All students can learn, but in different ways. I, for one, learn best by watching how something is done. I can read about it, or hear a lecture about it, but seeing it helps me understand the subject. This type of teaching would be done with movies, drawing or acting out the situation. In my teaching, I try to use all methods available to me to help the students learn and to use their creativity. I especially try to get students to work in groups and to share their work with each other. I find that pier groups provide the best help in understanding the subject matter. The classroom should be a learning place of activities and fun.

At Loyola University, as director of the Writing Lab, I used peer tutoring and computers to assist students in the composition classes. I developed a love for tutoring and remediation -- for the student who needs one-on-one instruction. I allow the student to be successful. Every lesson must end in success and praise.
