My comments on tutoring GED : Qualified in this subject by WyzAnt. I acted as a volunteer with Career Central, Spring Hill, FL assisting applicants preparing for GED examinations in 2012. I also assisted students in GED preparation with R.S.V.P. in Burlington VT.

For the greater part of my life I have been involved in various facets of education. I have acted as substitute teacher at the middle and high school levels for a total of 10 years, 8 of which were spent at 12 schools in Vermont and 2 at 10 schools in Hernando County FL. Over 15 years teaching at the Sumter County Adult Education Center. I taught a variety of computer and business classes, including over 5 years teaching the GED students' various subjects including life skills. I created the Business Office Secretarial Skills Vocational Program and implemented it. I am an adjunct instructor at Lake Sumter Community College. I initially try to find what he/she is struggling with,and what strengths and weaknesses are present. I allow the person to ask questions in a fluid, spontaneous, "let's see as we tackle this together" manner. When something is not understood, I try to give analogies, examples that the person can relate to. I also may explain the subject matter in a more simplified, methodical fashion.
