My comments on tutoring Composition : I have been teaching writing for 30 years at LaGuardia Community College, in NYC. I have helped many students from around the world to become fine writers of the English language. I am patient and understanding.

In my experience, the majority of students are highly motivated. This is, for me, the key to success. However, very often, students require assistance with a wide range of ‘remediation’ in many of life’s basic competencies: a skill set that includes such issues as time management, test taking, study habits, and, sometimes, acculturation. A Little Bit About Me...

I combine a variety of teaching styles to accommodate student's learning style. When it comes to GED instruction, I would say that math is my strong suit. I always try to find examples of how certain skills could be applied to real life experiences.

Composition is one of my top subjects! Teacher writing is my favorite thing to teach, as it is a chance to see a student's creativity and uniqueness in their work. As a certified Teacher of English (NJ), I am prepared to teach writing composition at any age. I have worked with beginning readers who are just learning to make letters into words and words into sentence. On the other side of the spectrum, I have taught High School English, and thus am familiar with working with the upper levels of writing. I currently am working with an SAT student who needs help with the writing prompt. I am EXTREMELY detailed when checking a student's essay, and have this notion that a writing piece could only get better and better. I have more than 20 years teaching and tutoring at the junior high and high school level of student. My students have improved their SAT scores and Classwork has allowed them to grasp literature,writing skills, and overall reading skills. A recent student improved 160 points on the SAT verbal test. Reading is the Key to Success!

I have worked in the field of education as a teacher for 30 years. I have taught basic skills in foundations of Reading to middle school students. I have also taught all subject areas to elementary school children. The most memorable and most valuable experience in my career was teaching first graders how to read. It takes a trained professional to be able to lay out the framework children need to learn how to read. Reading skills on the first grade level are the most rudimentary and applicable to all grade levels there after.
