I deeply enjoy teaching children from all different age groups, cultural, social and economic backgrounds. I believe that patience and working with each child to find their own unique way of learning is fundamental to the teaching process. Giving positive feedback while utilizing solid teaching skills helps each student to be motivated to achieve their best. The teachers who continue to influence me and affect my day-to-day life are those who had a genuine passion for teaching and a contagious love for their subject. They were the best teachers, not only because they possessed the necessary knowledge, but because they were animated and caring and able to cater to students' needs. My mother is a reading development teacher. She works with Title 1 children every day in her job. Before coming to college, I volunteered over 100 hours working with a Title 1 child on her reading, writing, and math skills. She was in the third grade for the second time that year, and by no means can I take credit for the fact that she went on to pass that year, but I do believe I helped her by understanding her difficulties, working with her as someone who was interested in seeing her succeed. I love working with children of all ages. I really like elementary age children. I have a hands-on approach to education.
