I am a student centered teacher. I like to use activities that encourage and motivate the student to explore the problem. I am a patient and encouraging person. I also like to show an emphasis on creative explorations of problems and using problem solving as a unique means to discovery. I have been working with youth for over ten years. As a private music instructor and substitute teacher I have had the opportunity to work with students K-12 with a wide array of abilities. During the school year of 2009-2010 I was a para-professional in a Kindergarten PDD class (pervasive development disorder/autism) where I helped administer IEP directed lessons for 8 children on the spectrum. The teachers who continue to influence me and affect my day-to-day life are those who had a genuine passion for teaching and a contagious love for their subject. They were the best teachers, not only because they possessed the necessary knowledge, but because they were animated and caring and able to cater to students' needs. I believe all children can be made to see the benefits of education through the right teaching methods. If there is anything I do not know, I am able to research and learn about it independently. I taught public school for 4 years before getting a masters degree in Religious Education with a Concentration in Childhood Education. I wanted to complement my undergraduate Elementary Education degree. Therefore, I choose the childhood education concentration at seminary. Then I was a Assoicate Pastor for Children for over 13 years where I supervised paid workers and planned activities for a children's ministry at a local church. I had to maintain a budget for this ministry in the amount of $38,000. Over the course of all of these years, I have learned a vast array of skills.
