When I was in high school I tutored other students in science and math. In college I majored in psychology (BA University of Missouri), and then statistics (MA University of Missouri, PhD Carnegie Mellon University). I taught and tutored all levels of undergraduate statistics, with emphasis on behavioral science majors. In my classes and tutoring I met students (and classmates) from diverse parts of the world.
Learning requires practice, so I emphasize practice to mastery, following Kumon. In tutoring, it is usually the case that the students can learn most of the subject without a tutor, but that each student who has difficulty has a difficulty not shared by most other students, hence not covered in class or homework. A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a Post Graduate student at UCSD. I have been tutoring for the past 3-4 years. I have primarily tutored High School and Undergraduate students. My area of expertise is Math. I can tutor any math up until Advanced Calculus.
I primarily focus on concepts and fundamentals. Most often I try to follow the instructors teaching style so the student can go to the class and does not feel lost. Although sometimes, I try different techniques based on how well the student is doing. I am very patient and I try my best to keep the session interesting and also at times challenging.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I graduated in 2006, I began an entry level career as a credit analyst. The technical analysis did not bother me, but the lack of social interaction did. I changed careers and joined a private wealth management firm, educating affluent investors as to which investments vehicles best fit their objectives. I have 2 years of experience in giving free public seminars at local libraries and community centers. These seminars cover the basics of investing and financial planning concepts. Preceding this, I have helped my little brother in high school mathematics, something that he struggled with. Similar to my career path, I enjoy using common ground references in education in order to help illustrate otherwise complex concepts.
