My life experiences included a continued study of wine, currently earning a Certification status with the Court of Master Sommeliers. In pursuing this subject, I was able to execute varied instructive wine events, developing a following of customers at previous jobs. Currently, I am studying for an Associates Degree in Biological Sciences, which required a retake of Intermediate Algebra, where I excelled as top student. My high school math was always at the "AA" or accellerated levels, having completed Trigonometry and pre-Calculus/Physics by my junior year. During those years, I was involved in tutoring Latin and English, in addition to math.

I believe that most subjects are not difficult to master. Most problems come from "under learning" the subject. Repetition may work for some subjects, but with math the student needs to understand WHY a process works. Once this is learned, the rest comes rather easily. When the student takes for granted a way to solve a problem, they are lost when the problem is presented in a different way. But, if the student understands the WHY, the presentation of the problem does not matter.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a chemical engineer and I currently work for a biofuels plant. I consider myself as having a good way of presenting the science behind biodiesel to the other employees who do not have a scientific background. As such, I often have to create spreadsheets and conduct training sessions to explain the mathematics behind the process in layman’s terms. I have tutored students in chemistry, algebra, Latin and geometry. I tutored for underprivileged children in NYC for a few months in mathematics, and in college I tutored chemistry in my sorority and for other students upon request.
