While tutoring, I use a wide variety of methods, including metaphors, diagrams- whatever the student requires to learn the material. I am exceptionally patient with struggling students, because I know that losing patience solves nothing, and given the right materials and knowledge, the student will succeed. I believe very strongly in the potential of people to do exceptionally well, even when they may not realize that they are capable. Each child has the capacity to learn and it is the teachers job to present the material in a manner which is conductive to the child’s understanding. Providing tools to help each student comprehend the material is essential. Many students are helped with additional reading strategies, or using a math manipulative to make an abstract concept understandable, or a graphic organizer to help understand new content material. The key is to provide additional methods or strategies so each student is successful. I have a passion to see each child succeed and reach their goals.
