A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I also taught "at-risk" elementary age children during the summer for the Glendora Unifed School District in Glendora, CA. Kind and patient tutor for math, science & computing.

Patient, relaxed, friendly. Able to translate concepts into different scenarios in order to help the student grasp the concept.
Although not degreed in math, science or computers, they were my favorite subjects. More importantly, I am gifted in communicating concepts into terms my students understand and grasp. Repetition doesn't equate to learning, it's a component, it's a way to practice, but it is not how the mind grasps the concept. I am currently working as a substitute teacher in many districts in metro Detroit. I have taught Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalculus, and Trigonometry at Oakland Christian School where I did my student teaching internship. Although the majority of my work experience is in business, my selling and people skills are tremendous as a teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very student friendly. I engage the student in working out easy examples, which provide an illustration of fundamentals. Part of my process is to "walk through" an example with the student, showing them a process to solve a given problem. I then assign a problem for them to work out. This resembles a test-like environment where the student can figure out what he/she does not understand.
As a MSU graduate, I have experience in math up to linear algebra and abstract algebra. This includes calc 1,2, and 3 as well as differential equations. I was a tutor at Lawrence Tech. University as a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society. We provided tutoring help to fellow students at LTU.
