Teaching and tutoring have been my life's work. Though the majority of my experience is at the college level, I love working with students of all ages. All children have the ability to learn; some need more help than others finding that one pedagogical method that really makes everything "click" for them. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a graduate from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and about to graduate in May 2011 with another Bachelor degree in Recreational Therapy. I was valedictorian in my high school and graduated in the top 10% of my class in college. In addition to that I have 5 years of Spanish I have taken in high school and college and recently went to Oaxaca, Mexico on a study abroad trip for 3 weeks. I have three years of experience working with children and teaching them social skills, daily living skills, helping them with their homework whenever they need it, and I love to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style purposefully reflects the great teachers I have had. While I consider my subject and field of study greatly important, I realize that all work and no play kills desire. A subject, especially English, has to come alive; students have to relate. Of course grammar is always the hard part to "dress up," but that's the fun of teaching. The best lesson I have learned is that each student is different and what makes him/her tick is different. I have enjoyed substitute teaching since 1991; it was a part- time occupation that worked well as I re-entered the college scene in order to advance my AA degree to a BA in Political Science. Life and destiny urged me to earn a teacher's certification in Texas, where I later worked as an ESL 4th-5th grade teacher in the Waco (Texas) Independent School District for three years. A move to Kentucky to be closer to my aging mother resulted in six years of working as the Adair County School District's Gifted and Talented Coordinator and ESL/ELL Coordinator. As an honor's student who tutored other student athletes I was driven to continue on and receive a Graduate level education. Although English came very easy to me so did Computers and programming so I chose to receive my Bachelor in Business Administration and a Master in Management Information Systems.
