A Little Bit About Me...

My love of mathematics began while I was in elementary school--I looked forward to those classes and took as many as I could from my high school, Wyoming Area. I had, at one point in middle school, helped to tutor some students in one of my classes. While in college at Susquehanna University, I had the priveledge of tutoring pre-calculus to local Selinsgrove High School students. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to share my passion for math with others. I believe anyone can comprehend math if given the right tools--learning math is like building a pyramid, you need the base to get to the top, and that is what I try to do, help these students grasp a solid base understanding of the topic. As I stated above, I am really comfortable working one-on-one with students. I feel that we can get to know each other, I can learn the way the student best learns, and where his problems lie. I feel the student can develop trust and confidence both in me and himself in this type of situation which may help to carry over into a regular classroom. It is important to learn how the student best comprehends, and proceed from there.
I graduated from Mansfield University with a BS degree in Elementary Education with honors.
