I have been involved with sign language for six years now. I took two years in high school and two semesters in college. I also tutored four students for a year in the basics of sign. I am also involved with an all sign language church (no voicing), that has a number of deaf members, with which I interact weekly.
Basics of sign language with a focus on building vocabulary, sentence structure (syntax), and fluency.

I am a strong believer that we all have our own way of learning and it is important to be flexible to the needs of each individual. I have worked as a Counselor for Disabled Adults and see that no matter where a person is developmentally, there is a way to help them achieve a higher level. Patience, creativity and providing a non-judgemental environment are key to helping children and even adults to achieve success. I have several years experience working with children and adults in the education field. The students I have taught at the college level ranged from late teens to early 30s. Upon my decision to return to college and obtain my BS degree, it was discovered that I possessed an uncanny, natural talent involving all aspects of the studies surrounding English. Reading, comprehension, symbolism, poetry, creative writing, poise, maturitym ,ect. After that placement exam, it was decided that I did not have to take any English courses, or, I would take more advanced courses. I did choose the latter. Throughout the last 10 years, I have helped my husband, brother, all of my children, etc. I have tutored them on how to write a well developed paper on their topic of choice, and have it read showing the expertise of the writer. I possess the same talents when it comes to proper grammar. I also teach Catholisim to the 8th grade once per week for 2 hours. I prepare them for the sacrament of confirmation.
