Physics is one of my top subjects!

I enjoy teaching and help others learn the subjects of math, science and Spanish. Everyone is different and therefore everyone has a different style of learning. Therefore, my first responsibility as a tutor is to understand the best method of learning of the student and use it to maximize the potential for the student, in grasping the subject. Most are capable of learning better by examples and/or diagrams in the area of physics and math. Therefore, I always use a drawing board to better explain the material and the examples. I strive to make a difference in the lives of my students.

Turning your weakness into your strength

I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Geometry through Calculus III, from general computer knowledge through utilizing the advanced functions of Microsoft Access. I have tutored people ranging from my peers to people three times my age, to as young as third graders. My motto has evolved into "Helping those who feel they can not be helped"
I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. I tend to use the questions they are struggling with the most, making similar examples, then walking them through these problems and breaking down the problems until the student understands the how the process works.

I just got back from Texas, after spending a semester in engineering school at the University of Texas at Arlington. Although my work experience is in retail, I feel that my knowledge can be used in tutoring. I enjoy helping people, even if it's just fixing a computer or caring for a friend's animals.

My comments on tutoring Physics : I am quite knowledgeable of the basics (manipulation of position, velocity, acceleration equations, vectors, etc. and pretty much all of the topics covered up to PY 208); however, I must admit that I am a bit more hesitant on materials pertaining to Magnetism and Electricity.

I graduated from Ronald Reagan High School with a 4.6 GPA in the second graduating class ('08), then went on the NC State University to study Engineering, where I jumped in between various Engineering programs for three years before simply deciding to take a break and truly figure out what I want to study. While this may deter several people from choosing me, I know that if you met me and/or any of my teachers from any grade level, they/I could certainly set the record straight, as I am quite a smart person, I have simply struggled with getting my life into an appropriate schedule. This is because between high school, my extra curriculars (captain of the drumline for three years and a captain of the lacrosse team for three years), and my parents, my life was completely structured for me, so what little free time I had was easy to budget, this is not the case in high school. Physics is one of my top subjects! I took the AP Physics exam in tenth grade and got a five on it. I have also done extensive extracurricular studying of physics. I know classical mechanics, classical electrodynamics, special relativity and quantum mechanics well, and am familiar with quantum field theory.

From my tutoring experience I have noticed that most students who have trouble understanding a difficult concept do so because they did not understand a more basic prerequisite concept, so I try to help students "fill in the gaps." When working with students, I work through a few problems with them, and then I have them do a few problems on their own to see if they understand. If I see that the student does not understand some prerequisite concepts required to solve the problems, I make sure to have them understand those concepts before continuing with the current problems.
I gained my first tutoring experience by explaining difficult concepts to classmates that were struggling. I have been a tutor on WyzAnt for about half a year now. I have tutored math and physics students both at the high school and college level. All of the students that I worked with rated my lessons positivel ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is to first teach the basic principles and then teach how they can be extended and used to solve problems. By helping students understand the fundamentals and problem solving techniques, they are able to think for themselves. This allows them to think more independently and solve a wider variety of problems without relying on memorization.
I have experience in engineering which includes a solid understanding of math, calculus, statistics as well as physics. I have applied and practiced these skills in various business industries over my 12 year working career. I also have experience teaching at the under graduate level for the Measurement and Instrumentation course in the engineering program at Iowa State University.

I believe that are students are learners. I believe that a tutor must figure out what student have trouble understanding in any subject. I first start by showing all the students all the step involve in solving any math or science problem. After learning where the student is having trouble, I instruct them on methods for studying the materials. I allows eneanged the student in guided practice when solving a problem. I love working with children and had around 9 different children for a two year period while working at the mental health agency. They ranged from 3 years old to 16 years old. I am patient when teaching new subjects and very empathetic to different situations and needs. I have always worked to do the best and be the best and make a positive impact along the way. I believe with a positive mentality and hard work the possibilities are unlimited and through helping guide individuals with subjects they struggle and promoting good ethics they too can follow this mentality.
I graduated high school in 2003 as the valedictorian of my class. I maintained my high level of academics in college but didn't know what I wanted to do for a career. A Little Bit About Me...

I teach by completely explaining the idea, challenging the student, and addressing weaknesses or gaps in understanding. I feel that I can simplify complex concepts and explain them clearly, whether the question is thermodynamics, macroeconomics, or multiplication. Anyone can understand a difficult topic or answer challenging problem with the proper coaching, practice, and persistence. I am patient and understanding but resilient and dedicated. The challenges of tutoring a child with autism have reinforced these qualities and helped me learn to come up with alternate approaches and be patient at apparent roadblocks. I wish to use the knowledge that I have worked hard to gain helping other students comprehend difficult yet important ideas.

I have been teaching Physics, AP Physics, and Physical science for the last four years. I graduated with an AS in Physics from Midland College in Texas and then with a BS degree from NC State in science education with a specialty in Physics.
My students have a 97% passing rate on their EOC's. I use many real world examples and hands on demonstration to gain understanding with the children. I use a lead by example approach with the math, and give consistent feedback with their work to ensure understanding. Teaching Physics is a blast and I bring this attitude to my classroom and the kids respond well to me.
