I'm currently a student in school who has had a wide range of experience in various different subjects, specifically working best with mathematics, science and language arts in the elementary and middle school level. I'm familiar with I've been doing my best to educate myself in as best as I can, not simply for the sole purpose of filling a resume, but for the sake of learning.
When I teach, I try my best to be open minded, and to give choices to the student, rather than follow a closed-box cookie cutter curriculum. I've found it's important to find a personal way of learning for a specific student. Variety is important, because every child learns a little differently. Some kids learn by listening, others by seeing. Some kids learn only when they're making things. Encouragement and recognition when progress is attained by the student is a great incentive.

Helping students learn and learn how to grow

I like students to be comfortable, enjoy their experiences with me as much as possible, and learn not only the material they need to study, but also habits and practices that will help them with future studies.
My teaching experience is broad across subjects and age levels. Learning and teaching excite me and I like to think that attitude rubs off on my students. It can be fun to learn, and even those subjects a student does not find enjoyable, can prove satisfying. I was a senior scientist - engineer for 37 years. I retired to care for my comatose wife at home, and she died a few months later. This situation has left me open to new directions. A Little Bit About Me...

What strikes me most as I look back at my education is how much of an impact a teacher can have when they make their subject relevant to their students. When I am teaching I try to find out what motivates each student as a person, in addition to what is motivating them to take the class. My experience in tutoring is a mix of working with large tutoring agencies as well as local one-on-one at home tutoring services.
