My passion is making mathematics accessible. After high school I was underwhelmed by mathematics. However as I took more math in college, I realized how much I had missed in high school. As I learned more mathematics, I became determined to make it my business to find and implement better methods of educating people on mathematics in a way that does not overwhelm them, but simultaneously makes their learning experience more useful. I studied teacher education as an undergraduate, and attended graduate school at Dartmouth where the program in mathematics has a specific focus on preparing one to teach mathematics. As an undergraduate at MIT, I have a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, and have complete master of those taught at the high school level. I have also completed several advanced courses in chemistry, biology, and physics, but am still young enough to remember the techniques I used to learn those subjects when I myself was a high school student. I have prepared many students (privately) for final exams in biology, geometry, and algebra.
I have a knack for creating analogies and mechanisms to help students remember things for exams, as well as strategies and ways of thinking that may be a little different than what was taught in class (but still gets them to the final result). I really want to help kids succeed in school and be in charge of their learning even after I am no longer their tutor. I like to inspire them to learn.

Every one can learn. Sometimes an individual learns in their own unique style and finding that style is the key to teaching them. The best way to teach someone is to guide them when they come to a road block, rather than to give them the answer. The amount of pride and prestige that comes from having figured out a problem on their own is the most important thing.
