The Barton Reading & Spelling System is an Orton-Gillingham influenced, simultaneously multisensory, explicit, and systematic phonics program. This is the program I use to help students with reading and spelling difficulties. After graduating with my Bachelors Degree, I worked in a Residential Treatment Center for abused children for two years. One year of this experience took place in a classroom setting to assist teachers with behavior issues. Upon receiving my California Teaching Credential, I worked in California public schools teaching in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades.
