I have had 4 years of experience tutoring students 16 and under in mainly math, business, and general studies. I am currently a Financial Specialist looking to pick up an after school tutoring position to help strengthen a student's understanding in their studies. Throughout my education years I've achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher I've never got a 3.5 or higher so I think I'm a decent student. When training employees, my teaching style has always been to learn by doing. I believe that people do best in learning a new task when one explains the task before doing, then shows how to do the task while explaining, and then asks the trainee to do the task with guidance. The same goes for teaching an academic subject - explain how it is done, show a couple of examples while explaining, and then ask them to try with guidance. If this method of teaching is not working for a particular student, I will adapt my teaching to fit his/her needs. At both places I worked with children of all ages. In May of 2010 I graduated from UW Green Bay with a degree in Human Development and Psychology. I plan on getting certified in Child Life.
