A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a nurse for 10 years, 3 of which I taught nursing. During this time I taught Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmacology, Trauma & Emergencies, and Pathophysiology. This experience, along with 7 years of caring for patients in the hospital, has given me the ability to help students to better understand these subjects and apply them to the clinical area. I have earned a bachelor degree in nursing in a program that emphasized presentations and computer knowledge. This gives me a better understanding to help college students with projects and presentations.

My teaching style would be to find the student's primary learning style and converting the information he or she needs into a format that fits that learning style. Each subject would be made as visible or concrete as possible, so that the student could interact with the material on more than just a visual/conceptual level. Showing the student how the material can relate to real-life situations and opportunities would be a vital part of the instruction.
After high school, I recognized in myself a desire to work with elementary- and high school-aged children. A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Grand Valley State University in 2008, and has equipped me with the knowledge of many applications of biological and physical sciences. I worked in a research lab in college and was responsible for training new students. In addition I acted as the supervisor of the laboratory for a group of high school interns, working to advise them on their research projects and educate them on basic laboratory protocols. After graduation, I accepted a job where I acted as a laboratory manager, directly training new staff laboratory techniques.
