Me teaching style is similar to my leadership style, democratic. I like to have students explain what they are thinking when approaching a problem. This way, it is possible to determine where the breakdown may be. Examples, definitions, and sometimes taking a step back can make a significant difference when attempting to move forward. A strong base is vital. My passion is sharing my knowledge with others. I studied at Kent State in Kent, Ohio. While at Kent I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, and a minor in English with extensive course work in business. Following undergraduate study, I ventured on to complete a Master of Arts in Physical Education. My concentration was Therapeutic Recreation with a focus in gerontology. I taught a class during my graduate assistanceship and acted as a teaching assistant to three professors.

I always seek to individualize my instruction. No two learners are alike, and this often gets lost in a busy crowded classroom. I believe that the ability to tailor instruction to a student's individual needs is essential for academic success. I have experience working with learners of all ages. My earliest classroom experiences while studying at Kent State were with Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes, and I have substituted in classrooms all the way up through high school. I have worked with adults in a GED prep and ESL environment, and my certification/area of expertise is with adolescent and young adult learners.

I earned a BA in Philosophy at Kent State University in 2000. Since then I have studied graduate level Mathematics and I taught undergraduate mathematics classes at Kent State University during the course of my graduate studies. At KSU I have taught Fundamental Math 6 which is high school level pre-algebra math and Algebra for Calculus which is freshmen level Elementary Algebra. I have also taught algebra to high school students for the Upward Bound Classic program at Kent State University. I have taught for 30 Years. The first 9 years at Cleveland Central Catholic, mostly traditional Social Studies classes with a few honors level. Since 1989 I have been at Fairview HS, teaching At-risk and regular classes in Social Studies; Government, World History and American History. I am a pretty flexible teacher, utilizing technology and on-line resources frequently today. Earlier in my career I did more traditional lecture with a dose of Socratic method mixed in. I believe a key is to relate the material to something the students knows and cares about.

I have a BA in education 7-12th grade. I currently substitute teach and coach highschool football. I love seeing students reach thier potential through my committed aid as well as hard work.I have lead tutoring seccions thoughout my highschool and collage carees. I continue with this by leading study tables at the schools I substitute for. I feel I am able to look at children as induvidual learners and accomidate thier needs through a wide varity of teaching methods.
