I have a passion for teaching but waited until I gained some "real world" experience. I found that this has helped me relate to my students since I am able to make meaningful connections to their learning. I like to discover what my students already know about the topic and to expose any misconceptions. Brainstorming activities work well for me. I like to help define the topic in common terms, not the classic dictionary method. I use presentation, discussion, videos and hands on activities. Most of what I do is inquiry based.

My understanding of science has been strengthened by completing 30 graduate credits in biology related fields and 23 graduate credits in chemistry. I have over 20 years of teaching experience in chemistry, including honor and advanced placement chemistry.

I have taught for over 25 years in settings as varied as inner city schools in NYC to a small public school in Arlington Vermont, and an elite private school at Stratton Vermont. I have taught remedial, basic, bilingual and honors level classes in Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science in class room settings. I have tutored various sciences and math, including Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 on basic and honors levels. I have also tutored students for SAT prep in English and Chemistry. My undergraduate degree as an English major has enabled me to excell at writing research papers during my medical science career, as well as help my students with research projects and papers. I earned two bachelors' degrees from Norwich University in 2011. I graduated with a BS in Sports Medicine Athletic Training and a BS in Sports Medicine Health Sciences with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Education Health. I excelled and enjoyed the information that was taught to me, particularly in the fields of chemistry and math. Although I have no formal tutoring or teaching experience in the typical classroom setting, I have done plenty of informal teaching. I helped classmates who were struggling in subjects that I understood such as Organic Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Calculus, Kinesiology, etc. I have also taught people of all ages in more physical activities such as skiing and gymnastics.
