I subscribe to the principle: tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, tell them what you have told them. To avoid mind-numbing repetition, I present the material with a combination of text and pictures, then review the material with ungraded short answer exercises ("active learning – I do and I understand"). Then we summarize. I also connect what the student is learning with previous course content to promote learning by association. I use a variety of exercises to reinforce content, including case studies, diagram creation and annotation, group discussion (where a group is available).

I am a firm believer of repetition. I have many books on grammar, linguistics, writing styles and nonfiction/fiction how to. I accompany any lesson with many resources. My goal is to instill the importance of good sentence structure and language because it is used at every facet of the work place.
