My teaching approach is to be direct and explicit, as well as facilitative. When working with students, my goal is that they internalize concepts and strategies that will ultimately enable them to perform independently. Then, when teaching reading and writing, I emphasize underlying structures and organization of text and the steps in the writing process. I started tutoring in 9th grade, and continued until my freshman year of college. I tutored middle school and high school students in math, sciences, and social studies.
