My comments on tutoring Piano: Suzuki and traditional instruction, also retired Kindergarten teacher

I prefer to interact with the students and let them express what they are interested in learning. It is good to work together. I taught piano lessons, including individual and group theory, for 10 years, l980-1990. My studio contained about 40 students, who took individual lessons every week, and ability grouped theory games and lessons on Saturdays. From 1989-1999, I taught general music in Elementary Schools. From 1999-2004, I taught First Grade in a private classical school, and from 2004-2011,I taught Kindergarten and first Grade in Jakarta, Indonesia, in an international school.

There is nothing quite like witnessing an “A-ha!” moment as someone conquers a fearful concept. I have always had an interest in math and science, and I got my start tutoring in high school by helping fellow classmates and friends in these subjects. I went on to earn my BS in Mechanical Engineering from U.T. Austin. I have also spent much of my life in the world of music and began te
