Experience Summary
I have always had an interest in math and science, and I got my start tutoring in high school by helping fellow classmates and friends in these subjects. I went on to earn my BS in Mechanical Engineering from U.T. Austin. I have also spent much of my life in the world of music and began teaching beginner piano lessons several months ago. If the subject matter is analytical and involves numbers, I can certainly help you figure it out.
Teaching Style
I enjoy working with children of all ages, but particularly excel with more mature students trying to tackle more difficult subject matter. One of my greatest strengths is helping people understand abstract, technical material by simplifying the concepts and using analogies that the student can relate to. Often times we create a barrier because something seems like it should be hard. I make it my goal to break through that barrier by reducing the subject matter to ideas to which the student can relate. There is nothing quite like witnessing an “A-ha!” moment as someone conquers a fearful concept.
