I like to determine my teaching style by first evaluating a child's current progress and learning style. Learning is a very individualized process, therefore, teaching must also be individual. I am a relaxed person, and I like to find a way to relate material to a child in a way that he/she will not only understand, but retain. Flash cards are great for some children, and other children will learn better with a pneumonic device, while still other learners will make up a song to remember the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

I simply ADORE teaching, either children or adults. The 4th, 5th & 6th graders I taught in Lebanon Christian school loved and learned from me. I was successful in making their learning material interesting and learnable. The class I teach at XU is one of the most popular classes in the Weekend Degree Program. As I said above, I emphasize the art of dialogue, which includes above all else, active listening to, and deep respect for, the other person in the dialogue. I am very down to earth and like to take things seriously. I think most people respond the best to positive reinforcement; however, I know how to be serious. I am very good at explaining things because I like to have things explained to me in detail. I am very professional and polite and am good at making people feel comfortable around me. For me, education is very important and it is important to stay on top of the game.
