Based on previous experience I have discovered that the same teaching style does not work for every child. I find that explaining each topic and asking the child question gives a clear indication of their understanding. Based on responses to the questions adjustments may be made to address each child's need.
As the daughter of educators, I have been exposed to the education system all my life. As a result of this exposure, I became very interested in tutoring and teaching. Teaching is a very holistic activity. I spent the last year and a half working with at-risk kids in a wilderness setting as a Counselor/Teacher. Essentially, I had 8-10 home-schooled children under my care in a therapeutic environment set up for experiential education.
