I am an experienced elementary classroom teacher. I have earned a bachelor degree, BS in Elementary Education with a minor in history, and a MEd in Educational Administration and Supervision. During my teaching career I have attended numerous workshops and training sessions covering a wide variety of educational topics and issues. I have coached/sponsored UIL Spelling and Herald Post Spelling Bees. I have done in - house (school) tutoring and after school tutoring with all elementary levels. I have tutored students in the areas of Math, Reading, Language Arts, and standardized tests. I have worked on Curriculum Committees, GT Committees, and a Textbook Adoption Committee. As I suffered through my younger years with Attention Deficit Disorder, I feel that it is extremely important to appeal to almost all of the senses when teaching. As for myself, I am definitely a visual learner, so I feel that visual aids are important. I am a big fan of hand outs in full color. You will often find me drawing a picture on the board. I feel it is important to hear it and see it, and if you can, touch it. Another important teaching style I implement, is watching my students and making sure they know how to do it. Going around and walking each student through the process and asking them to do what I did really confirms that the student understands what I have taught them.
