A Little Bit About Me...

I have been involved every year since 1975 in the work of an educator, mostly for pay, but occasionally as a volunteer, either community- or faith-based, in three states and two foreign countries. Leadership was usually demonstrated in teaching for proprietory institutions in curriculum development and in the processes of actual recruitment. In fifth-grade teaching of English language learners, my class for two semesters won the highest attendance record for 3rd-5th graders in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Each time I have taught a different age-level I have sought to accommodate myself to the learning style of that particular level, whether psychokinetic for kindergarten and preschool, audio-visual for lower elementary, or verbal-phonemic for upper-level students and adults. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a Math Major at the University of Northern Colorado. I am working on my Secondary Education Licensure in the PTEP (Professional Teacher Education Program) as well. I have done over a year of observations and working directly with students. I have 2 semesters left of classes at Northern Colorado, and will be student teaching next spring.
I have always known I have wanted to be a teacher. I do my best to adjust what I am teaching to what my students actually have passion for. I believe that not all students learn the same and that is some thing we need to constantly be adjusting for. I prefer using activities to introduce new concepts and to veryfy, validate, and or, proof the information that we collect from a lesson. I am patient and I listen to students very well before I make judgements. I believe that if all students are accomodated in ways that fit their learning styles/preferences such as audio, visual, or practical, all students will succed.
I started by tutoring introduction to chemistry- college level at the University of Texas - El Paso where I attended. This was a part time student job that made me consider teaching. I then tutored chemistry, physics, and mathematics at a nearby high school. This was the preparation for the state exam (Texas) called TAKS.
