When I am teaching a subject, I attempt to pinpoint exactly where the pupil is misunderstanding the content. Then, I explain to the student in a way I believe will come across more natural. I truly believe in the variety of learning styles that all people possess. I believe they should be considered strengths and not weaknesses. I absolutely love teaching. I have considered continuing my education and pursuing a secondary education teaching degree. I believe I am patient and kind, and provide a learning experience that is most beneficial to all. I think that students can have fun while learning, and I try to combine fun into my teachings. Although so many students don't believe it, anyone can solve a math problem! They just need to understand how to look at the problem the right way. I'm able to give the one on one attention that a teacher isn't able to. As a Civil Engineering student at the University of Michigan, I took classes that led to proficiency in math and science, as well as general classes that have given me a well-rounded education. I have been tutoring in Physics and Calculus for the past six years. I have also been playing guitar for 10 years, and have been giving lessons for four years.

I have always been very enthusiastic about learning and always find myself helping others to discover a deeper understanding of a subject. My original interest was teaching instrumental music. Although I changed majors and ultimately graduated with a BS in Computer Science, I have continued my interest in teaching, first by volunteer tutoring during college and later by helping adults learn to speak English. I eventually took an intensive summer course in teaching English to speakers of other languages, following which I spent over three years teaching conversational English in Central Asia. Upon returning to the States I worked for a few years for a literacy council, helping administratively and also teaching workplace English. I continue to play in orchestras and teach string instruments privately. I am in the process of completing a Master's degree in Teaching. I love working with children and with adults.
