Elementary Phonics is one of my top subjects!

I am a patient teacher not rushing the students to complete the task so we can quickly move onto the next skill. I would rather take the time and know the student is comfortable with a concept before adding new information. I use a variety of strategies from flashcards to mnemonic techniques to worksheets to hands-on activities, basically whatever will help the student become successful.
Throughout my teaching career I have had the opportunity to teach a diverse group of students from K-12 in a core subject areas. I taught kindergarten for three years. I have also taught math and reading in an online classroom. Currently I substitute teach in all subject areas. I believe all these experiences have helped make me a dedicated, flexible, and nurturing educator.

Ever since I was a child, I have been passionate about everything English: books, writing, and grammar. I followed my passion and earned both my BA at a small liberal arts college in Pennsylvania where I was encouraged to continue my education to the Master’s level. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in journalism from Oswego State University.
