My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have been writing poetry for a long time and also have done numerous spoken word events.

I have been tutoring independently since 2009 but have always liked helping others learn. I am good with math and numbers. Will go the extra mile to make sure the student/client understands that material. I like to provide as much feedback as possible to the student/client and build their confidence while tutoring them. EXCELLENT EDUCATOR!!!

My teaching and classroom management style is very authoritative. I like to set clear and concise classroom rules and expectations. Teachers should take time to set rules in a visible place for students, review them daily, and have consequences when the rules are not followed. However, students will be acknowledged for doing the right thing through classroom recognition or a prize. Students should have a set routine each day. This will allow them to know and understand what to expect with the classroom. If the routine has to be changed, this is explained ahead of time and students are guided into the transition. This will alleviate discipline problems.

My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have taught poetry in the Fayette and Rome County School Systems to high school students.

I opt for making the material relatable to my students, which causes it to be more interesting and meaningful. When something is relevant, it is a lot more fun and kids are much more willing to want to learn, which is, of course, ideal.
I graduated from McIntosh High School in Fayette County and studied English and Secondary Education at Berry College. I student taught for a year at Rome High School before graduating and becoming a substitute teacher in Fayette County. I have completed three long-term substitute positions, two of which put me in charge of an entire classroom with all the responsibilities of a full-time teacher. My comments on tutoring Poetry : Yes, as mentioned before, I'm a published poet. That does not make me an expert on the subject. I know how to write a sonnet and can show you the various rhyme schemes that pertain to the more classic types of sonnets. There are so many kinds of poems to explore! Many people think free verse is easy because there is no scheme to adhere to; however, this is not the case. If you want to learn about poetry, I can give you the basics. Of course, in college I wrote about poems for a grade and was trained in finding symbolism, meter, etc. Again, these are but fundamental aspects of poetry. The difficulty lies in the fact that poems can be very esoteric.

I have extensive experience both locally and abroad teaching ESL. I taught in Korea for two years before working at a local ESL school. Within these two positions, I taught ages 5 through adult. Seven years ago, I became a certified teacher in Georgia and have been teaching ESOL in public schools since then. I have published about a dozen poems and one short story. Currently, I am working on my third novel and am looking for an agent. My forte as a teacher is discovering what a student is trying to convey in his/her writing. Para los que no hablan ingles, soy bilingue. Aunque puedo decir esto, me espanol no es perfecto.
I enjoy humor where appropriate and am very patient with students who need time to understand concepts that are new to them.
