I Help Students Tackle Math With Confidence!

I bring both personality and creativity to math sessions, and I am concerned with the intellectual and emotional well-being of all tutees/students. I currently have a long list of clients that I serve through one-on-one, in-home tutoring--and have both a high success rate and client loyalty with them.
I have enjoyed the personal gratification of tutoring since high school. Since I was 15 years old, I have shared my knowledge and love of mathematics with people of all ages. I attended Spelman College and Georgia Institute of Technology, where I received my Bachelor of Science in both Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. I also tutored my peers at these institutions. Critical thinking skills and untraditional ways are what I focus on. However the way someone learns, I will try to set the individual up to show how they learn and work with them. I will implement practices and materials I think will fit the student's profile. I feel a teacher wears many hats and you must be prepared to wear a different one any day.
I have been a tutor for 23 years and I have taught Adult Basic Education for 12 years. I am still continuing my education to receive a Masters degree and plan to get my PhD. My comments on tutoring SAT - Math : I specialize in math and science preparation. The first thing I do is find out the strong/weak areas of the student and focus on the areas that need the most improvement. I also use sample tests and test questions.

My comments on tutoring SAT - Math : Passed virtual testing.

I started out tutoring elementary students in basic math and English grammar while I attended college part time in the 1980's. I continued tutoring young students and adults in the 1990's, tutoring Basic Math, Basic and Intermediate Algebra, Basic Geometry, English Composition, Speech, Study Skills and the Sciences. In addition, tips were given to enhance test-taking skills in hard-to-Ace subjects like Economics. A Little Bit About Me...

I think the best way to teach is to show students how they can break down problems and find answers to questions that may, at first glance, seem overwhelming. I have yet to meet someone who is incapable of grasping a subject, and I am able to stay calm and remain patient as students begin to expand their knowledge in areas that are new to them.
