A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my graduate program at Western Michigan University, I taught at least one Business Statistics class per semester, was a volunteer statistics tutor for all undergraduate statistics courses, and consulted PhD students of other disciplines who needed help understanding or communicating statistics in their field. Furthermore, I worked as a part-time instructor for a semester at Kalamazoo Valley Community College teaching Mathematical Statistics. I have earned a BS and MS both in statistics, which have equipped me with an understanding in many areas of math, research, statistics, and science. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating with a mathematics undergraduate degree in 1998, I have continued to study all areas of mathematics for the last 12 years. I have passed numerous actuarial exams that cover advanced mathematic topics as well as becoming a charterholder in the CFA Institute in 2009. I would love the opportunity to pass on my enjoyment of mathematics to others. I tutored extensively during my college years and feel I have a lot to offer the students of today.
I enjoy teaching and working with all children. I grew up as a teacher's son and now I am a teacher's husband so I have experience exploring different methods to help children learn. I believe I can pass on my education and experience to students and give them real world applications of the material they are studying. I have a simple teaching style. I teach according to the students needs. I try to get a sense of how the student learns best and let them direct me to what they need. I teach the student to teach themselves. I have had great sucess with my approach in the past, as this is a very self-rewarding experience for the student. I have often found that students soon catch-on and then begin to excell on their own. I have used these techniques to tutor algebra, geometry, algebra II and psychology, political science, anatomy and physiology. I love to see that look in a students' eyes when they "get it!"
