I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, in 1989. Since graduation I have worked as both a full-time teacher and a substitute teacher. I have taught full-time at five different traditional schools and Florida Virtual School. My teaching style really depends on the person I am working with. People learn different ways. It is important to identify what works best for the person. For example, some people may learn through discussion, while others may need to see pictures or presentations of the subject matter. I like to identify how the person learns first through questions, or by testing them with a simple task first to identify the method which seems to work best for them. Many of the things in life that we don't "get" are things we don't understand. When teaching, I try to break things down and simplify them so they can be easily understood.
