I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, in 1989. Since graduation I have worked as both a full-time teacher and a substitute teacher. I have taught full-time at five different traditional schools and Florida Virtual School. A Little Bit About Me...

Many of the things in life that we don't "get" are things we don't understand. When teaching, I try to break things down and simplify them so they can be easily understood. Often the kids in my class are those who do not like to be challenged, so I incorporate a lot of questions to provoke thinking and problem solving on their own. Since repetition is a key component to learning, I review a lot which requires patience but pays great dividends in the long run. I love to bring history to live for students so I like to explain events in a story format. It is important for students to memorize facts, however, so I focus on memorization techniques and organization. Reading requires comprehension so I use a combination of techniques including reading out loud and repetitive reading. I achieved an AA degree at Florida Community College at Jacksonville. I am currently continuing my education at Florida State University where I am pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Biology. I will graduate in Spring of 2010. After, I will continue to Dental School to become a dentist.
