I graduated on December 16th, 2011 from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a bachelors degree in Music Education with Cum Laude Honors (3.4 GPA). My teaching style varies on how I feel the student will learn best. Sometimes that may be through demonstration, others though sound. Some students read music better while others learn better through rote. I student taught for sixteen weeks from August 22nd, 2011 thru December 2nd, 2011. My first eight weeks I worked at a middle school and taught symphonic band, beginner band, and private lessons. I have designed and coordinated a Resource Center to help students with special needs learn and achieve at their level. I have also designed and implemented a school for children with special needs. I believe that every child has a right to learn. I believe that, no matter what kind of problem or learning disability that student has, that he/she deserves to learn. I entered DeVry University in Summer of 2007 as an Accounting/Business Major looking to aquire my Associates of Applied Science in Accounting. I took a variety of general education classes such as business, math, english, and science. I attended the school for a few months earning credits before having to take a break to go home and be with my father who was suffering from a serious illness. I did extremely well in the areas of math and english which required extensive hours spent on research and studying. I have been privately tutoring children over the past three years. I took a few classes on teaching at a small community college while I was still in high school. I still am considering becoming a teacher after going back to school to complete my major in accounting. I've always been a stronger believer in one-on-one teaching working more proficiently then being taught in a classroom.
