I have a certification of completion in American Sign Langauge from Phoenix College Arizona. I have worked at Phoenix School for the Deaf and Blind. I have been a sign language instructor for the past 10 years. I have been teaching sign langauge level 1 and 2 for Orange County Community College for fours years and also have been teaching sign language level 1, 2 and 3 for a private high school in Poughkeepsie, NY for the past two years. I have been signing for over 20 years. I am not certified because I chose not to be. I prefer working with adults that are deaf/blind. Im an employment specialist, so i am also skilled in teaching and training people. I love sign and working in this population. My husband is deaf and my children (11 & 6) are signers. Hey! My names Bethy! I'm 13 years old and in 8th grade. I've been tutoring since I was in 5th grade. I can tutor all ages in almost any subject. Last year I had the highest GPA in my whole school! I love teaching anyone who is willing to learn! I also teach children with learning disabilities and special needs.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I am a certified (NIC) American Sign Language interpreter. I have been actively involved and working within the Deaf community for about 10 years.

For the past seven years I have worked full time as a job coach at Lexington Center for the Deaf Vocational Services Center in Jackson Heights, NY. I also volunteered in their Independent Living Center for two years prior to my employment with them. In 2010 I was a private tutor for a neighborhood adolescent, teaching him basic sign language to better help him communicate with his family, as he is unable to use his voice. I have also spent time volunteering at the Helen Keller National Center for DeafBlind Individuals, where I received training to become a certified Supported Service Provider (SSP). Occasionally I also work with the New York Parent Network to provide interpretation for their various workshops and events. I also volunteer often with New York Deaf Theater, as I also have a strong background in and love for theater.

Hello, My name is Hazel Sherin and I am currently a Freshman at The New School. As a high school student I decided instead of taking a foreign language to take sign language as an alternative. Prior to taking ASL 1, I was completely unaware of Deaf Culture and The Deaf community. In learning some of the history and attending Deaf events, I rapidly fell in love with the language. Unfortunately, I only reached ASL 3, as I only started taking it as a Sophomore. Since then I have taken one ASL 2 course in college just as a review because that is all that is offered at my school. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating from college with a BA, I began working for an environmental restoration and public education program. We led large volunteer groups sometime of more than 100 people, in local park and forest restoration event, and also led youth groups on 10 day restoration and hiking trips in the national forest. After this I worked for a program that places tutors in schools that are in need, where i tutored K-5 students in reading, led a ESL class of about 10 students, and worked as a teachers assistant in the class room.
