Lauren Wasynczuk - Saxophonist, Conductor & Music Educator

At the core of my teaching philosophy lies the belief that teaching and learning go hand in hand and that effective teaching depends on successful communication between teacher and student. A music lesson is a collaborative effort. Not only does a student hopefully learn in his or her lessons, the teacher learns from the students! My teaching “techniques” are solutions – born from the need to solve a specific challenge with any particular student. In the teaching process itself, putting myself in the student’s shoes allows me to consistently find solutions that work for each individual student and grow as a music teacher. In order to generate collaboration in a lesson, I believe in creating an atmosphere that encourages participation and involvement. My goal is to motivate and challenge my students and help them to enjoy the music they play. A motivated student assumes responsibility an ... read more

Fun and Effective Learning for Enrichment & a Better Future!

I like to give practical examples and modern day analogies. I like to keep learning fun, no matter what the age. A man once told me when I was purchasing a seat for my bicycle, "You should get the most comfortable seat, because you a lot more likely to ride longer." After he gave me that advise, and I bought a comfortable seat, I rode 22 miles the first time out. I don't want somebody to be quick to stop learning, because it's not comfortable, so we do what we can to make it fun!
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing. I am a skilled Graphic Designer by trade. In school, I loved and excelled in many areas, especially Math. I enjoy teaching and learning! I'm a life-long student and have fun acquiring knowledge. I evaluate the student and see where he/she stands and move forward in progressing their skill. Every instrument is different and difficult in its own way. I will teach the student the most productive way to practice by using the technique I learned by professors and professional musicians. For trumpet, I work on the embochure, and breathing. For violin, I evaluate the way the student holds the instrument including posture. I use a special tape to help guide with the notes which I use as training wheels, and take them down one at a time as the student progresses. The student learns at his/her pace and will vary by the amount of practice he/she puts into it.
