I've taught and tutored both accounting and math on the college level. I'm a CPA by training , and my resume includes working in public accounting and Federal and state government. I've taught/tutored math since 1981, and have taught both accounting and math to studewnts of varying demographics. I've been told that I have an ability to "demystify" many math concepts to increase student knowledge. I've researched "math anxiety" and try to help students grasp various math content ares relevant to their needs. Developmental math is a one of my strong points. I get students to participate in solving problems by working through the steps in turn. I keep track of student preparation for accreditation by giving home work assignments. My teaching style is very simple and I believe it is effective. I have found that going through problems does not always help kids learn. I always try to tutor the basics and establish a plan for problem solving. The children need to know how to attach a problem not how to plug numbers into equations.
While attending the University of Massachusetts at Lowell I work to help other students that were having difficulty understanding the material presented. I obtained a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in Structural Analysis. The course work gave me a very strong understanding of Mathematics, and Physics.
