During my years attending UMass Dartmouth, I recieved my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration. But I also gained alot of experience working with children. I tutored elementary age students in the star program and college students at my campus job in the Unity House. I also was the coordinator for the New Bedford Speech Academy. This program taught students fron 4-6th grade public speaking skills. I have applied the skills I learned to my current job as a home tutor. I tutor elementary to high school students in all subjects.

In my previous teaching/tutoring positions enabled me to provide students with a “head start” in mastering the various facets of Microsoft Office Suite, English as Second Language and Portuguese language. Prior to my second career in the field of service to at-risk senior citizens, I taught English for four years at Westport High School. Following the reduction in force made necessary by budgetary constraints, I taught for ten years at the Crystal Springs School in Assonet, MA as a Special Needs teacher. While rewarding, I missed the challenge of more literary pursuits and began teaching evening classes at a local communuity-based organization. My tutoring experience had its inception in that setting.
