A Little Bit About Me...

I am a doer who has shared his knowledge and experience in a variety of ways. When I worked as a photographer and filmmaker, I taught those subjects at many different institutions, from an after-school program for elementary school kids to NYU Graduate School. For many years now, I have worked as a science writer and editor. I mentor many newly minted Chinese scientists and engineers who work for IBM in Beijing, teaching them both English grammar and the proper form and style for peer-reviewed scientific papers they are writing. I developed and taught courses in Communications and Technical and Professional Writing for Marist College, Poughkeepsie NY.

For nearly six years my husband and I have been foster parents to children in the Commonwealth. I have drawn on my education and employment experience to assist many of these children in their studies as most have had learning disabilities and very little home support. At one point in my employment history I was a substitute teacher in elementary-high school and while I subbed in several subjects, I enjoyed the English classes most as it is where my expertise is. A Little Bit About Me...

I earned my degree in newspaper journalism at Syracuse University, one of the finest schools in the country for this program. Since that time, I have worked as a writer, editor, journalist and reporter for several major organizations, most recently as a content producer for Monster.com's Career Advice. This position involved working with freelance writers to mold their work into a better product.
I believe that helping young people with their writing is essential to getting them to properly express themselves, as well as get them ready to compete in the world of work and school. I love working one-on-one with students and showing them how to improve their writing. I am a tough editor but believe that constant practice is the key to becoming an effective communicator.
