English Language Arts Teacher

I believe that real learning takes place when students are actively engaged in the material. Finding the right materials to teach with will often inspire intrinsic motivation.
I have currently spent over 350 hours in a variety of school settings. From private school to public, first grade to twelfth, I have seen it all. The majority of my experience has taken place in a suburban middle school, however I have also spent a reasonable ammount of time working with inner city high school students. I double majored in college to recieve a bachelors degree in literature and writing, and spent a full year interning at a student run newspaper as a journalist and copy editor. It states that "All beauty is a making one of opposites, and a making one of opposites is what we are going after in ourselves" Thus, I relate the subject matter in hand to students' personal lives. For example, if we are learning Le Chartelier's Princlple, which concerns the response of a chemical reaction to stress, I have my students discuss the types of stress they experience, and their responses.
