Science is so cool to me, especially seeing all the strange ways the world does things when you know how it works. I have worked on numerous teaching in science colloquium, made laser light shows for kids to talk about lasers, and developed specialized science intro courses for college freshmen at wvu.
I like to stay relaxed and have fun, telling a few jokes along the way. It's hard to learn things if you're not interested, and even more so if you're struggling with it! I push students a bit once I'm sure they understand something, and I always try to get them to be at their very best.

Good at explaining things so students can understand them.

I have Algebra One and the Principles of Physics. In a small private school, there were two students who were failing at the end of the semester. With the permission of the headmaster and the parents, I gave each of them a grade of "Incomplete" and then tutored them through the Summer until they could each pass the final exam. They both earned B- grades and, more importantly, succeeded in Algebra Two.
Finding a way to explain complicated concepts in a way that works for the individual student.

I really love teaching and finding different ways of using analogies and similarities to explain difficult concepts. I have been very successful in teaching the sciences and mathematics courses in an understandable way. As a high school student, I had a part time job tutoring a younger high school student in mathematics and SAT preparation. This job was 4 nights a week and lasted all during my senior year. As a college student, I would frequently help friends and family with high school chemsitry in a one-on-one formal setting. I also further tutored my brother's friend in SAT preparation.
