I am a Teach for America teacher. This means that in 2009, I applied with 40,000 applicants and was among the 4000 selected to become a teacher in a Title One school. As a TFA teacher, I have undergone intensive training that focuses on backwards planning and results based accountability. In the past year I have taught fourth and fifth grade subjects including: writing, science, social studies, fine arts, and technology. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked with teens in crisis. In that role I worked with teens to develop healthy coping skills in times of great stress. I've also tutored in biology, psychology, and English while I was in college. It is widely acknowledged that students learn in a variety of ways. In a tutoring environment, I believe in discovering each student’s optimal learning strategy, as well as identifying techniques for making other styles of teaching accessible. I aim to enable further education, as well as transmit more urgently needed information. In the process of earning my BA in History (minor in Archaeology), I became familiar with a broad range of historical subjects. My certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) gave me a familiarity with mathematics and statistics, as well as conventions of scientific research and reporting. I have taught for 15 years. I began as a Preschool teacher and did that for four years. I also taught a a Charter School for at risk teens in NJ. I went overseas and taught in South Korea for four and half years, and am currently teaching in schools all over Northern Grafton County as the Education Coordinator for the Support center. I am a very dedicated teacher with a great deal of patience. I love working with and teaching children of all ages. No two children are the same, and we know that this is correct, so therefore it applies to their learning ability as well. Some children need visual simulation to really ingrain the principle that is trying to be understood. While other's learn by complete repetition. My teaching style is all relative to the child and the subject area being covered. As an average person, I enjoy teaching children the values and importance of their education while befriending them and understanding where they are in relation to their social-emotional, physical, and educational development.

As a graduate of The Kings College the professors taught me the value of working with children on an individual basis. They taught me that there are many different learning styles a student may have.
