I came from Guangzhou,China and relocated in USA now.In the past ten years, I earned a Ph D,a MS and a BS in engineering which has enabled me be very good at math, chemistry,Physics, biochemistry and some other science fields. I had published more than 26 papers in China and International conference(as EI/SCI/ISTP).I also earned two BA in English literature and English Education.During the last nine years,I have tutored Chinese students in English,mathematics,chemistry,psychology,the arts and sciences.I also have the experience in teaching Chinese dance,Latin or ball room dance in comapnies and schools in China. I have always worked with children. I have been a part of many volunteer projects surrounding children as well as direct related jobs. I have worked with children with various learning abilities and overall capabilities. I believe it is important for children to have someone to help them understand their educational tasks. My primary goal is to help the student understand the material so that it makes sense. My tutoring style involves asking lots of questions. The answers to these questions enable me to determine where the student's difficulties lie and how to address them. I don't believe that telling someone a fact or algorithm or the answer to a problem has much lasting value, so I attempt to lead the student to her or his own understanding by a series of carefully structured questions. This way the student actually learns the material and can be confident in solving whatever problems are presented, so their school work goes better. My best contribution has always been coupled with my crossover between practical, "real-world", skills and academics. As an undergraduate at MIT, I have a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, and have complete master of those taught at the high school level. I have also completed several advanced courses in chemistry, biology, and physics, but am still young enough to remember the techniques I used to learn those subjects when I myself was a high school student. I have prepared many students (privately) for final exams in biology, geometry, and algebra.
I have a knack for creating analogies and mechanisms to help students remember things for exams, as well as strategies and ways of thinking that may be a little different than what was taught in class (but still gets them to the final result). I really want to help kids succeed in school and be in charge of their learning even after I am no longer their tutor. I like to inspire them to learn.
