Latin Tutoring
The ordinary student can no longer count on being able to take Latin, but there are, however, extracurricular means. The College Board examinations, which serve as an educational tool for the admission of students into colleges, still features one Latin examination on a voluntary basis: Advanced Placement Latin: Vergil. Select a tutor today. Latin is still used in the process of new word production in modern languages of many different families, including English. Latin and its daughter Romance languages are the only surviving branch of the Italic language family. Other branches, known as Italic languages, are attested in documents surviving from early Italy, but were assimilated during the Roman Republic. The one possible exception is the language of the Veneti, who may have spoken Venetic in conjunction with Latin in early Roman times. Need HELP? Select a tutor now. Emily D. - West Chester, PA 19380 (32.5 mi) - Latin Tutor - $20.00/hr.
I obtained a teaching degree in both Latin and History teaching in Utah. Then moved to Texas and taught High School Latin for two years. I learned Latin from Wheelock's Latin text and I am very familiar with it. My High School curriculum used the more modern reading method, specifically the Cambridge Latin Course text. My second year teaching I taught AP Virgil and helped students work their way through large portions of the text and successfully master scansion and other poetic elements.

Stephen G. - York, PA 17401 (38.4 mi) - Latin Tutor - $16.50/hr.
I have an MAT degree and have taught Latin I, II, and III for 25 years. I will gladly work with the Cambridge or Ecce Romani textbook series or with my own materials which incorporate the best of both of these. The goal of my instruction is reading knowledge of Latin as opposed to the memorization of a grammar that does not apply to English. The stories I use to teach reading classical Latin center around the everyday lives of Roman families and their slaves, not military and political events.
This is the vocabulary of everyday Roman life that has passed its roots into English, and so this is the Latin that should be learned in order to enhance one's English vocabulary. Additionally, the everyday lives of the Romans were far more strange and interesting than anything that occurred on their battlefields or on the floor of their Senate. The emphases of this course are adventure and wonde
