I have worked most of my adult life in education or journalism, and I was able to combine my two passions as a journalism professor at the college level for several years. I am currently a visiting lecturer in media studies at Bridgewater State College and a substitute teacher in local schools. I have taught social studies, business and typing in secondary schools. I have a Bachelor of Art in History, predominantly American. I also pursued Engineering for my first year and plan to go back to College. I have completed through Calculus II and am also experienced in hands-on mechanical. I have limited tutoring experience, but I know I can listen and respond. Any experience came from helping others in classes during College. I'm patient and listen to the student to see what they get and don't get about the premise of the lesson. Then we get to it. My teaching philosophy and primary goal is to first understand and appreciate each child for their unique abilities, strengths and weaknesses, then to channel those abilities toward a better appreciation of the practical value of science and math knowledge.
