I studied French for two years at the University and although I never lived in a French-speaking country, have acquired a great deal of experience in language. I am competent at teaching at beginner to intermediate levels. Of course grammar is important, but the main goal can be to help students understand and be understood. In addition, learning a language should be fun! Although grammar is important, languages are acquired overwhelmingly by listening (60%) and speaking (30%), whereas only 5% each by reading and writing. I view myself more as a coach than a "teacher", using a modern didactic method also known as accelerated learning.
