A Little Bit About Me...

As a father of three, I love to teach through example. As much as possible, I love to use practical illustrations to emphasize points and to give the child/student a better understanding of its application. I tend to learn best visually and through repetition and would incorporate that style into my teaching efforts. My goal in teaching would be patience, demanding but considerate, firm but fair.
I worked my way through college, working full-time and attending classes whenever possible. I graduated from Ohio State with a degree in mathematics, majoring in the field of Actuarial Science. I became interested in teaching while I was working at Delphi Automotive. I trained my own staff while I was there. I have chosen to be a teacher because I believe I can make learning fun for my students. I like to relate subjects to each other so that students can see how everything is actually intertwined. I like to use direct instruction, cooperative learning, peer coaching, manipulatives, simulations, and technology. I believe that teachers need to use a variety of methods to facilitate learning.
