A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a junior at Martinsville High School. Throughout my high school career I have taken multiple math courses such as algebra I, algebra ll, geometry, pre-calculus(currently enrolled), and statistics(currently enrolled). I also have experience in physics, chemistry(currently enrolled), biology, first year German, second year german(currently enrolled), etymology, U.S. history, and World history. I am currently ranked in the top 5 of my class with an unweighted GPA of 4.0. Math is by far my strongest subject but, I willing to work in the other subjects listed above.
I am willing to work online, travel to a house, or meet at a secondary location. (i.e. Starbucks). I am very patient and will work at any pace necessary. For example, if there is an upcoming test, covering all the fields needed for that test would take priority.

A Little Bit About Me...

Having two wonderful elementary teachers, I was inspired to become a teacher. I graduated in 1988 with an Elementary Education degree. I began my career as a teacher's aide but soon decided to be a stay-at-home mom to my two children. In 1994, I began to home teach my three children. I graduated my youngest in 2008. In 2004, I substitute taught for two local school districts. In spring 2008 I renewed my teaching license. I received my first teaching job at a Christian school in Indianapolis where I taught first grade. The school downsized so I resigned allowing the tenured teachers to keep their jobs. (I was the last hired, therefore would have been the first to go). Since that time, I have been a substitute teacher and a tutor.

I have taught in many different formats in both mathematics and physics. At Purdue University, I ran a physics laboratory class as well as did tutoring in a help center for physics. Afterwords I have also taught for ITT Tech where I taught an online physics course; IvyTech where I am currently teaching an algebra course; and the princeton review where I am teaching Physics for MCAT Students. Every student is different. They all have different experiences and learning styles. Sometimes teachers can just try to explain concepts and ideas the way that they understand things. I like to first ask students questions to help me understand where they are, what they specifically do and do not understand. This helps me to figure out how to help the student. Also in my experience, teachers teach only one method of solving a specific problem and that way may not be easy for that student. I like to explain many methods so the student can choose the method he or she understands. Every student can achieve academic success.
